Pros of buying 1898-1901 Full-Boehm clarinets:

2. Unique sound: Clarinets from this period often have a rich, full sound that can be quite different from modern clarinets. This can be an attractive feature for musicians who are looking for a unique tone.

3. Craftsmanship: These clarinets were made by skilled craftsmen using traditional methods and materials, which can result in a high-quality instrument with excellent intonation and playability.

4. Potential investment: Historically valuable clarinets can appreciate in value over time, making them a potential investment for collectors.

Cons of buying 1898-1901 Full-Boehm clarinets:

1. Maintenance: Older clarinets can require more maintenance than modern instruments. They may need repairs or restoration work to ensure that they are in good playing condition, which can be costly.

2. Playability: Some older clarinets may not be as easy to play as modern instruments, particularly for beginners or those who are used to playing on more modern clarinets.

3. Cost: Older clarinets can be quite expensive, especially if they are rare or in excellent condition. This can be a significant investment for musicians who are on a budget.

4. Limited availability: Due to their age, there may be limited availability of these clarinets on the market, making them more difficult to find and potentially more expensive.

Conclusion:

If you are a collector or a musician with a deep appreciation for the history and craftsmanship of clarinets, purchasing a 1898-1901 Full-Boehm clarinet can be a rewarding experience. However, it is important to consider the potential costs and challenges associated with owning and maintaining an older instrument. It may be worth doing some research and seeking out the advice of a knowledgeable dealer or repair person to ensure that you are making an informed decision.

Recommendation:

If you are considering purchasing a 1898-1901 Full-Boehm clarinet, it is recommended that you do your homework and carefully research the condition and history of the instrument. It is also a good idea to have the clarinet inspected by a qualified repair person to ensure that it is in good playing condition. Finally, be prepared to invest the time and money necessary to maintain and care for the clarinet to ensure that it continues to provide you with many years of enjoyment.

Details:

The metal has been cleaned and refastened. The interior has received a new plush lining. The one piece bodies, the barrels, and the bells have no cracks, other damage, or repairs.

The outside has been stripped, stained, and varnished. The elegant metal work shows no finger wear. As set up for me, all are good players and not just for vintage clarinets.

Their pristine condition testifies to their care. The mouthpieces, ligatures and caps are not the originals, which I do not have.

They are what I use with the horns. The custom case is the original and has been extensively refurbished.

There is no key for the lock. Free shipping within the continental us.
